Updated 4-17-06:

The WVCP staff is saddened by the unexpected death of Rick Coleman on Saturday, April 15, 2006.  Known to his listeners and friends as Brother Rick, he was the senior WVCP volunteer, having done his Stainless Steel radio show from noon until 3:00 p.m. Sundays on WVCP for just under 18 years.  He will be missed.

WVCP Salutes Our Senior Volunteers!

Rick Coleman has been a WVCP volunteer since June of 1988.  He hosts the weekly Stainless Steel Program.  The show features the hardest in Christian Rock and Metal each Sunday from noon until 3:00.  Rick said that the older he gets, the harder the music needs to be!  Rick is the owner of The Coleman Insurance Agency in Nashville.  He took over the program from its founder, Mark McPhereson, who did the show from 1986 to 1988.  WVCP salutes Brother Rick as our Longest Running Volunteer and thanks him for his service to the college and community.
Tom Deep has been a WVCP volunteer since May of 1993.  Tom usually has on-air responsibilities on Friday evenings.  In addition to that, he is WVCP's Head Trainer.  He trains most of the new evening and night students and volunteers.  Tom has a Bachelor's Degree from Middle Tennessee State University and works full time for Tennessee State Government in Nashville.  We salute Tom for training dozens of persons for WVCP, and for the behind the scenes computer work that he does for the station.

Cody Richardson Jr. is the founder, producer, and host of The Great American Bluegrass Shop.  The program airs each Saturday morning from 8:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M.   He started the program in September of 1994. We salute Cody for his hard work which led to the 2002 Bluegrass Station Of The Year Award for WVCP.  Cody is the owner/operator of Cody Richardson Construction and Remodeling in Hendersonville.  (This program is temporarily off-the-air and expected to return in the fall of 2007.)

Mary Jane Espravnik has been an underwriting representative for WVCP since May of 1994.  She works with music underwriters and makes weekly visits to their stores to pick up compact discs on our music trades.  Mary Jane is a senior insurance account representative with Transcend in Hendersonville.  WVCP salutes Mary Jane for freely giving of her time, energy, and gasoline to fulfill this important function.
