2.       Examine possibility of improved admissions counseling on the front end to increase likelihood of selection of appropriate major.

4.       Propose development of a “majors” report to assess progress.

2. Clarify and improve a process for academic advisor training

3. Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the academic advising process.

1.       Administer Academic Advising Satisfaction Survey during Spring term for selected courses and examine additional indicators (Alumni, Enrolled Students, Developmental Studies surveys).

3.       Prepare a summary of recommendations for improvements.

4.       Implement changes to improve advising process.

5.       Review Advisee/Advisor Assignment process with a goal to equify with few reassignments.

6.       Develop a Transfer Equivalency Table which includes all VSCC courses “not intended to transfer”.

7.       Finalize a few program-by-program articulation agreements with each of our key universities.

 

Goal I, VI

4. Evaluate the effectiveness of the Develop-mental Studies Program.

Success in college courses, following successful completion of DSP prerequi-sites expected to be similar to success of students with no­ DSP require-ments.

1.       Examine Grade Distributions in Developmental Studies Program courses.

2.       Examine student satisfaction with Developmental Studies program using the current Developmental Studies Satisfaction Survey.

3.       Track students into first college course after DSP course.

4.       Determine retention and graduation rates of students taking one or more DSP courses.

5.       Review types of data collected in Advising Center, NEWSKILLS and Developmental Studies.

6.       Collect and present assessment data in ways that will better represent the effectiveness of NEWSKILLS’ instruction and tutoring.

7.       Post all DSP syllabi on the VSCC website.

8.       Bring NEWSKILLS into the mainstream of Developmental Studies.
