                                    1.  Define the term fitness and physical fitness.  (Test)

 

                   2.  List the component parts of physical fitness.  (Written Test)

 

3.   Identify the importance of warm-up, work-out and cool-down in a training

    4.   Describe the differences between aerobic and anaerobic activity. (Test)

 

5.   Identify risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease.

 

6.      Assess the cardiorespiratory endurance.  (Treadmill, Step-Test, Blood

                                    7.   Assess muscular strength and muscular endurance.  (Grip strength tester,

                                          Leg Extension Machine, Weights, Shoulder Machine)

 

                                   8.   Identify strength‑training exercises for developing specific muscle

                                   9.   Define flexibility and describe its importance as a health related

ACTIVITIES:                  1)    Take an objective test over the textbook materials.

2)        Develop a personal fitness program based on the student’s needs

3)        Participate in the daily class activities.

 

 

GRADING:                     100 points will be based on the following:

 

1)      Attendance                         =  25%

2)       Labs                                   = 15%

3)      Personal Fitness Program  = 20%

4)      Mid-term                           = 20%

5)      Final Exam                         = 20%

Bonus – (10) – 30 minute workouts = 10 points

70 ‑   79 points     =                 C

60 ‑   69 points     =                 D

Below 60             =                 F

 

 

 

An I grade is given only in extreme circumstances (sickness or death) when a student is unable to complete the course.  The instructor has the right to refuse to give an I grade.  The course must be completed in the following semester or the grade automatically becomes an F.

 

Each student will be given a pre-test for fitness and a post-test for fitness unless there is a medical problem which prevents the test.  If you are under a doctor’s care, it is your responsibility to notify the instructor and are encouraged to do so.  You should have a physical examination prior to taking this course.  If you do not have an exam, you are taking the course at your own risk.

 

It is the student’s responsibility to notify the instructor when he/she is tardy in order to avoid being marked absent.
