METHODS OF ASSESSMENT
The degree to which the outcomes of the primary goals of this course have been achieved will be determined by the cumulative assessment of the specific course outcomes. In addition, the course will be assessed by students through faculty evaluation and/or a student opinionnaire to determine a student’s perception of the achievement of stated course goals and outcomes.
Problem solving skills and critical skills are not assessed in this course. However, written tests require students to use these skills in drawing conclusions. Communication skills are not assessed directly but these skills are necessary for receiving and giving information.
Outcome statements will be assessed through a written test which will include physical fitness theories and concepts relative to the game of tennis as well as knowledge of the rules and regulations of the game. Additionally, the student will be assessed through skills tests on the forehand, backhand and the serve. Laboratory assignments relative to the outcome statements will also be evaluated. Class participation and attendance are other important aspects of the assessment and check lists will be used in determining if these requirements are met.
