Note
initially the requirements of the Class Standard for printing
worksheets/formula sheets: Go to Page Setup either from the Page Layout Tab
or from Print Preview. There you will find a dialog box with four tabs: Page,
Margins, Header/Footer, and Sheet. On the
Page Tab make two selections: Landscape Orientation and Fit to 1 page(s) wide
by 1 page(s) tall. On the
Margins Tab make these two selections: Center on page Vertically and
Horizontally. On the Header/Footer
Tab select Custom Header. [Note: The worksheet will never contain a footer;
if there is already a footer on the worksheet, remove it. ]The
Header will be comprised of your name (left section of Header), the File Name
of the workbook (center section of Header), and the Date the workbook is
printed (right section of Header). Use the appropriate buttons on the
Header/Footer Toolbar for the File Name and Date. When
printing a formula sheet (the formula version of a worksheet which can be
revealed in a number of ways – see
Page EX 44), make two selections on the Sheet Tab to print the Gridlines and
the Row and Column Headings. This (Gridlines and Row/Column Headings) applies
only to a formula sheet. All charts
will be placed on separate Chart Sheets and will not be embedded on the
worksheet. The tab name of the Chart Sheet will correspond to the type of
chart contained thereon, for example Line Chart or Column Chart. All Chart
Sheets will contain the Standard Header (Name, File Name, Date). Please
note well that these requirements supersede, override, take the place of –
however one may wish to express it – any contrary instructions in the text,
with the one exception noted, infra.
If in doubt, check the Class Standard handout attached to these Special
Instructions. Each (and every) assigned worksheet, formula sheet and chart
will be printed and included under the Excel Tab of your CIS 100 Portfolio. The
number of pages your Portfolio will ultimately contain is 55. As a general
rule each Excel workbook will contain three pages – the Documentation or
Title sheet, the worksheet and the formula version of any worksheet that
contains two or more formulas or functions. The number of Excel worksheets is
55 rather than 30 because four of the workbooks contain multiple worksheets and
charts. If you are in doubt about the completeness of your Excel Portfolio be
sure to check with me prior to the
turn-in date. These pages must be in the order they appear in these
instructions and they must be further arranged thusly: First the Documentation
or Title sheet, then the worksheet, then the formula version of the worksheet,
followed by any charts (in the order they were prepared) that are a part of a
particular assignment. Additionally, add colons after the words “Author,”
“Date,” and “Purpose” on any Documentation/Title sheet where needed and use
the =Today() function for the date of the
Documentation/Title Sheet and format the cell containing the date using Date
Category and the Type that will show the date with the month spelled out,
followed by the day of the month and a comma, and then the year in four
digits. Do not use the Long Date format, even if the text instructs you to do
so. |

charts that were moved to separate sheets, the chart title font size is 18

Case Problems not assigned may
be completed for extra credit, if desired. If you decide to do extra credit
assignments, let me know which ones in advance because there are special
instructions applicable to some of the extra credit assignments, special instructions
that are not otherwise reflected in this document. Final Admonition: The Class
Standard is required for several reasons. It is a requirement, first, because
it is an exercise in personal and academic disclpline, not unlike
requirements one finds in the work place. Second, it helps to ensure a fair
and equitable assessment of each student’s Excel Portfolio when the Page
Setup is uniform for every student. Third, it helps to ensure accurate assessment
of all formulas and functions when the Row and Column Headings and the
Gridlines are printed. The Class Standard consists of six simple steps and
the accurate typing of your own name. On a formula sheet, there are two
additional, equally simple steps. Each failure on your part to adhere to
these straightforward, really simple steps will result in deductions from
your Excel Portfolio grade. There are ten workbooks comprising the Excel
Portfolio, all weighted equally at ten points. Six or eight points deducted
from each assigned workbook for failure to adhere to this standard will also,
unfortunately, result in failure on this portion of the course. Take note and
be warned, therefore. |
