Methods for turning in homework:
Homework for this class may
be emailed to the VSCC email address or mailed by US Postal. If you email your homework, it will only be
accepted from your VSCC email address.
If your class meets on
Saturday, then the mailed homework must be postmarked on or before the Friday
preceding. If your class meets on
Thursday, the homework must postmarked on or before the Wednesday
preceding. Thursday hybrid class can
turn in homework due for that class meeting in person. Emailed homework is due by midnight of the
published date. When mailing by US
Postal, please remember 1 stamp is not sufficient. It’s best to have your mail weighed to
determine appropriate postage.
Downloading homework:
Homework assignments,
schedules and class calendars are available for downloading on the VSCC
website. Please click on the Site Map,
scroll down and click on Biology Program, click to learn about courses, then
choose Biol 1030. Please only open the
folder that pertains to your class, i.e., CAH vs. Hybrid. Lessons can be downloaded by the student,
and, in turn, completed work may be emailed back to me. It is not necessary to re-write the question,
just provide the answers. All work must
be labeled with your class section, name and assignment number.
Contact information:
Email will also be utilized
for any “housekeeping” issues. Email
will be used to send updates and reminders, in addition to occasional extra
credit options. If you need to pose any
questions pertaining to the course, tests, or assignments, please contact me by
email or VSCC voice mail. I may also be
reached at my home number, but only for urgent matters and when you have
exhausted the other options for contacting me.
Often times, sickness,
weather and work related issues may arise and pose a conflict to test
taking. Please check email and local TV
broadcasts for any weather related closings.
If you provide advance notice of your absence, I may allow make up
tests. Prior arrangements will need to
be made and you must contact me to seek approval.
Grades:
Tests are not
comprehensive. Your final class grade
will be comprised by the following:
75%==test average
25%==homework
average/class work
Expectations:
I ask that assignments be
legible and sent in a timely fashion. If
you miss more than one exam with an unapproved absence, your final grade will
result in a zero. It usually takes
students a couple of weeks to get acclimated to taking a CAH or Hybrid course,
so, don’t panic! Please email me with
any questions or concerns.
