Using the On-line Catalog

To search for an item in the VSCC Library:

    1. Type a word or phrase that describes the items you want to find.
    2. Click one of the search buttons on the left hand side.

  • Author:  Use this format:  Last Name First Name (no comma needed).
  • Title:  Omit leading articles a, an, the.
  • Subject: Look for items on a topic.  To look for items about a person, enter his last name first.
  • Searching is not case-sensitive.You may use upper or lower case.
  • Punctuation is optional. You may or may not enter commas, apostrophes, etc. in your search.  However, if a hyphen is part of a name or term, include the hyphen or substitute a space..
  • These searches will bring up items that only VSCC has.

You may also search by Keyword.   This will search the VSCC Library and other libraries in the library consortium.  Tennessee Technological University is one of those libraries.

  • A Keyword search will find the search term(s) you typed anywhere  in the area of the book's record.  *Note that by clicking on keyword you are searching the book's entire record. The term does not have to be at the beginning of the record.
  • Results found typed in blue with two green asterisks will be in the VSCC Library.  Those typed in black will be located at other libraries with which we share a database (Tennessee Tech and other state community colleges).
