Terra-cotta Warriors of Xian, China

The clay warriors were exquisitely detailed. They had solid legs and a hollow torso. The hands and head were added later and were modeled after an actual soldier. They appeared in full regalia, as if ready to march into battle. Some of the soldiers still had paint adhering to their surface. Notice the flesh-tone on this face.
