1:40 PM              TOUR OF BRIDGESTONE FIRESTONE PLANTING

                           -This backcross orchard includes almost 250 trees managed

                            with assistance from Kids of the Community.  The orchard is

                            located on 700 acres designated the “Partnership with Nature”

                            by the Wildlife Habitat Council.  Tour given by Sean Fisher, the

                            plant environmental engineer.

Remember to bring scionwood from wild American chestnut trees for grafting!

 

Directions:

 

From Nashville & Chattanooga-

Take I-24 to Manchester Exit #111, Hwy 55 East towards McMinnville.  Travel for roughly 16 miles until reaching Bridgestone Drive past Morrison and turn left (North).  At the guard station tell them you are here for the chestnut meeting and the Learning Center is the first building on the left.

 

From Knoxville-

Take I-40 to Cookeville Exit 288, Hwy 111 left (South) towards Sparta.  Go straight for about 56 miles passing through Sparta on Hwy 111, which turns into Hwy 70S, and passing through McMinnville, where Hwy 70S turns into Hwy 55.  About 10 miles past McMinnville on Hwy 55 turn right (North) on Bridgestone Drive.  At the guard station tell them you are here for the chestnut meeting and the Learning Center is the first building on the left.
