How is attendance taken in a distance course?

A schedule of assignments will be provided that will require homework submissions to be performed on a regular basis.  I DO penalize students for submitting assignments or quizzes late.  If desired, students can submit assignments early.  Students are encouraged to not delay beginning a new assignment.  Start early and utilize the discussion board and email for assistance when needed.  Visiting the discussion board on a regular basis can be very beneficial.  Some of your questions may have already been asked and answered by other students.  At times students may be assigned to respond to questions posted on the discussion board.

What is expected of me in this course?

Expectations can best be communicated by reviewing the syllabus and schedule of assignments found on the home page of this course.

Where do I find my assignments?

All assignments can be accessed from the homepage of the course within WebCT. Once the course begins, I will provide instructions regarding the submissions.

How do I know when assignments are due?

All due dates related to chapter assignments are included on the schedule of assignments which is provided on the Course Content and Related Materials page of the course within WebCT assignment and project due dates are also listed on the course calendar within WebCT.

How do I communicate with other students?

I have found that communications with other students in this course are most efficient when using the discussion board provided in WebCT.  I encourage students to use the discussion board when asking questions so that all students can see the question(s) and response(s).

How do I submit my assignments?

The submission of assignments vary depending on the type of assignment.  Quizzes are automatically submitted within WebCT when finished.  Problems and other projects will be submitted via the assignment drop box. The assignment drop box and list of assignments can be reached by clicking the word Assignments in the left hand column of your screen.

How do I take a test?

Chapter quizzes are provided within the course contents of WebCT.  A quiz will be graded and submitted once the student selects the 'Finish' button.  All quizzes are timed however, you may choose to use your book. Quizzes will be available when the course begins and will be released at intervals throughout the semester.  Do not let 'open book' fool you, because they are tough.  I will accept only your first submission for quizzes.

Can I finish the course early?

All assignments and quizzes are available when the course begins.  I have no problem with a student working ahead of schedule.

How do I find my grades?

Grades for assignments and quizzes can be found by clicking the My Grades link in WebCT. Grades for discussions will be posted at the end of the semester.
