How is this course taught without meetings?

After watching video lessons, students will complete readings and assignments on their own.

 

Do I have to come to campus to complete this course?

Students will attend only one class meeting: the orientation session.

 

How do I access the course content and materials?

All content is found the textbook and on the videos.

 

What are the computer requirements?

Students must be able to word-process their written work, including speech outlines, and save those document files. Students must also check the WebCT site at least once a week.

 

How do I get started?

Students should attend the first class meeting and then review the syllabus, which contains a weekly schedule of activities and due dates.

 

What do I do if I need assistance with technology or the course?

I can help with simple procedures required in the course, but for technical questions, you should call the college's Help Desk at 230-3302. When you have course questions (navigation, for example), you should e-mail me or post questions on the course's Main Discussion Board. 

 

How is attendance taken in a distance course?

You must submit assignments on or before the due dates.

 

What is expected of me in this course?

Watch the videos carefully, read all material thoroughly, and complete all assignments on time. Your work should show that you have dedicated considerable time and effort to it, and it should show that you have mastered the skills listed in the Course Goals section of the syllabus packet.

 

Where do I find my assignments?

See the "Assignment Guidelines"  section of the WebCT site.

 

How do I know when assignments are due?

See the "Course Schedule" on the WebCT site. 

 

How do I communicate with other students?

You may post messages on the WebCT Discussion Board.
 

 

How do I submit my assignments?

Visit the Assignments DropBox section of the course's WebCT site and upload your work. Only send documents saved as .RTF files.  You will turn in hard copies of research materials for Essays 1, 2, and 4, and you will turn in hard copies of the Portfolio.

 

How do I take a test?

There are no exams in this class.

 

Can I finish the course early?

You can turn some, but not all assignments early. The Portfolio cannot be turned in until the end of the semester. See the syllabus for the due date.

 

How do I find my grades?

I will send your graded assignments back to you through the Assignments DropBox. Some grades may be posted on our WebCT site.
