Reducing Student
Course Procedural Questions
It is important that we can assist you with information to students.
When Distance Learning and the C@H desk (C@H hotline) can give accurate
information to students, it typically means fewer un-necessary inquiries
made to faculty. Thus, your time is spent answering more course content
questions and fewer course procedural questions.
We ask your
assistance:
-
Please make sure
the C@H desk has a copy of your current course syllabus. It can be
emailed to
C@HServices@volstate.edu
A syllabus template can be found on the faculty pages under "Tools and
Forms." It can be edited in FrontPage and saved.
-
Please include in
your course syllabus the following URL for student reference to find
our Vol State Distance Learning Standards
http://www2.volstate.edu/distance/faculty/tools&forms/distance_learning_course_standards.htm
-
We suggest you also
indicate within the syllabus that if students think standards have not
been met, they can contact Vol State’s Distance Learning Department at
615-452-8600 Ext. 3668 or email
DLServices@volstate.edu
-
Please complete the
Online Course Orientation template. We will post these on the
Distance Learning website under student pages and orientations to give
students advance information about your classes and assist their
decisions on enrollment. A copy of the template can be found under
the faculty pages under "Tools and Forms." You can open it in
Frontpage, fill in the answers to questions, save it as your course
template and email to either
Skip.Sparkman@volstate.edu
or David.Warner@volstate.edu
As in the past make
sure you provide a course activity for students within first 10 days of
the semester. Financial Aid needs this to verify class attendance in
the Distance Course. I have attached the Financial Aid notice.
