Directory Information:

I was born and raised in Cleveland, Tennessee in 1947.  I now live in Hendersonville, Tennessee with my wife Nancy.  Our daughter Jennie lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee and is married to Joseph Leano.  My phone number at the College is 452-8600 and my email address is david.boehmer@volstate.edu

History:

As a child growing up in the small town of Cleveland, Tennessee, I grew deep roots and acquired a profound sense of family.  There I attended public schools through high school.  My first two years of college education were in Cleveland, at Lee University.  From there I moved to Knoxville and earned my Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Tennessee in 1971.  With war in Viet Nam raging, I joined the Army National Guard.  (I retired from the Army Reserve in 1998.)  I earned the Master of Science in Ecology from UT in 1974.  My wife Nancy, and I, were married in 1972.  We moved to Gallatin, Tennessee in 1974.  I have taught at VSCC from that time until the present.

Interests:

I have always enjoyed reading, and enjoy both fiction and nonfiction.

Family is important to me and I enjoy being with my wife and daughter, as well as my parents, siblings , and more extended family.  Relationships are especially important to me.

University of Tennessee Football is not ALL there is, but I give it a high priority as an avocation.  I like UT Basketball, Titans Football, and Braves Baseball.

I like to exercise, and understand that my health is important.  I have been an avid (no, compulsive) runner.  In my 30-something years I ran numerous 10K foot races and even ran a marathon.  More recently, exercise and proper nutrition have been an on-again, off-again proposition.

My compulsion over the past few years has been the study of family history -- genealogy.  I can't seem to get enough of it, and little bits of new information thrill me to death.
