SMALL GROUP COMMUNICATION

Small Group Project

Step #2

By this time you have all been assigned groups and used the Discussion Board feature of Campus Pipeline to leave a message for your group with your name and e-mail address.  This completes the first step in the group project.

Today you will receive a short description of “who” your group is.  This basically tells you what you will be doing in the in-class portion of the small group project.  Before you can begin that task, each group needs to appoint a LEADER.  Use the discussion board and e-mail features of campus pipeline to leave messages for your group about who should be the leader.  Some things to consider:

  1. Does anyone in the group have expertise or experience in the area of concern?
  2. Does anyone have experience leading groups?
  3. Does anyone WANT such leadership experience?
  4. Something I have not thought of that is relevant.

By the time the in-class portion of the project commences, each group shall have a leader appointed.  I will ask you for the name of your leader at the start of the in-class portion of the project.  Groups that have failed to appoint a leader will lose 10 points off the in-class portion of the project.

If you have any questions, please see me.  I will be “spying” on your group’s progress by looking at your discussions on Pipeline and using what I have found to help discuss leadership in class.  (No, I wont mention any names or groups!)
