Fourteen-year old American chestnut dead for six years on a south-facing slope in Metcalfe County, South Central Kentucky.  Height 38 feet and dbh 6 inches.  It was cut at 4 1/2 ft. from the ground to count the annual rings.  Photos by author, Jan. 2002
