CHEM 1110 - General Chemistry I
(Summer 2008)
A comprehensive study of chemical principles designed for students pursuing a career in chemistry or other scientific areas. Emphasis will be on atomic structure, bonding, formulas, equations, nomenclature and stoichiometry. Also included are states of matter, hybridization, molecular geometry, aqueous solutions, and properties of gases. The laboratory will consist of a number of quantitative experiments designed to teach basic techniques including the use of laboratory instrumentation.  PREREQUISITES: One year of high school chemistry or CHEM 110 or CHEM 1030 with a grade of C or better, Academic Assessment with ALL Developmental Studies requirements completed. PREREQUISITE or COREQUISITE:  MATH 1139, 1710, or higher. Three lecture and three laboratory hours per week.
